About the Opportunity

​

Witset First Nation is seeking individuals interested in learning how to grow fresh, healthy food while helping strengthen food security within our community. This paid Work Experience Placement is funded through the United Way BC Work Experience Opportunities Grant, with support from the Government of Canada and the Province of British Columbia. The program provides meaningful work experience while helping participants develop valuable skills, confidence, and experience for future employment.

Whether you're new to gardening or already have an interest in growing food, this placement offers hands-on experience in gardening, hydroponics, food production, and sustainable growing practices while contributing to an important community program.

About the Opportunity

​

Witset First Nation is seeking two motivated individuals to join our Grounds Maintenance team. This paid Work Experience Placement is funded through the United Way BC Work Experience Opportunities Grant, with support from the Government of Canada and the Province of British Columbia. The program provides meaningful paid work experience while helping participants gain practical skills, workplace training, and experience that can lead to future employment.

Participants will gain valuable hands-on experience maintaining community grounds, parks, and recreational spaces while learning professional groundskeeping techniques. Training on the Ventrac Tractor used for ball field grooming and grounds maintenance is also included.

What You'll Learn

  • Assist with seasonal clean-up projects

  • Safely operate hand tools and grounds maintenance equipment

  • Report maintenance issues or hazards to supervisors

  • Work collaboratively with the other placement participant

Elder's Trip Chaperone (4 Positions)

Trip Dates: August 22–28, 2026

Position Overview

​

Witset First Nation is seeking four (4) dedicated and compassionate Chaperones to accompany our Elders on an upcoming bus trip to Vancouver.

This is a meaningful opportunity to support and honour our Elders while helping create a safe, enjoyable, and memorable experience for everyone participating in the trip. Chaperones will travel with the Elder group from Witset to Vancouver and return, providing assistance, companionship, and support while working together as a team to ensure the comfort, safety, and well-being of all participants throughout the journey.

Key Responsibilities

​

  • Assist Elders getting on and off the bus safely.

  • Provide mobility assistance when required.

  • Help distribute meals, snacks, and refreshments.

  • Support Elders during scheduled activities and outings.

  • Assist with luggage and personal belongings as needed.

  • Help keep the group organized and together during travel and events.

  • Monitor the well-being of participants and communicate any concerns to trip organizers.

  • Promote a positive, respectful, and enjoyable atmosphere throughout the trip.

  • Be available to respond to unexpected situations and provide general support to Elders as required.

Compensation

About the Position

Working within the client-centred, family-focused vision of the Witset Health Centre Home and Community Care Program, the Home Care Nurse combines clinical expertise with strong assessment and coordination skills to deliver exceptional care for Witset community members.

This role provides clinical direction and oversight to Personal Care Aides and Homemakers and operates in accordance with BCCNP Standards of Practice and FNIHB Home and Community Care Program guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

Home Care Services

  • Conduct comprehensive Home Care Assessments.

  • Develop individualized care plans and service contracts.

  • Update care plans annually or as client needs change.

  • Maintain secure and accurate client files.

Clinical Leadership

About the Position

​

The Mental Health Clinician provides trauma-informed, culturally safe mental health services to Witset community members as part of an integrated primary care team.

Reporting to the Health Director, this role focuses on improving community mental health through clinical assessment, individual and group counselling, community education, crisis intervention, and collaborative care with the Witset Health team and Primary Care Network partners.

Key Responsibilities

About the Position

​

The Community Outreach Worker provides frontline support, navigation, and referrals to individuals living with mental health and substance use challenges.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team under the Director of Outreach Services, this role uses a harm-reduction and trauma-informed approach while collaborating with partners including RCMP, Northern Health, the Witset Health Centre, and Detox and Treatment Centres.

Strong preference will be given to applicants with lived experience supporting individuals affected by addiction and/or mental health challenges.

The FireSmart Coordinator leads the development, delivery, and administration of Witset First Nation’s FireSmart Program.

This position works to reduce community wildfire risk through public education, Home Ignition Assessments, fuel mitigation, grant administration, and collaboration with regional partners.

Program Administration

  • Coordinate all FireSmart activities.

  • Administer FireSmart and Community Resiliency Investment funding.

  • Prepare reports, budgets, and documentation.
